Our projects

The Slum Period Project

The #SlumPeriodProject is a transformative initiative aimed at addressing period poverty and stigma in slum areas in Uganda that are significantly affected by period poverty and stigma. This initiative aims to empower women and girls through provision of sustainable solutions to help them get through their periods free from period stigma and with dignity, using safe, hygienic alternatives that do not jeopardize their health and wellbeing.

Through community-driven outreaches, we are eliminating vicious cycles of sexual violence through transactional sex for pads, keeping girls in school and eliminating the subsequent risks associated with girls dropping out of school. Our mission is not only to meet the immediate needs but to also foster a stigma free society where menstruation is openly discussed.

Join us in our #SlumPeriodProject campaign to positively impact lives and create lasting change. Together we can create a future where every girls and woman can thrive without barriers.

Partnership with Seasons of Love

Period Talk Uganda, in collaboration with Seasons of Love, launched a campaign called #CyclesOfLove, dedicated to fighting period poverty and stigma at the JCRC cancer ward in Mulago by supporting women and girls in the ward.

This initiative ensures that patients undergoing treatment, as well as their caregivers, receive menstrual kits that include reusable pads, panties, and soap

Recent achievements include the successful distribution of over 126 menstrual kits to patients in the cancer ward. Educational outreach activities were conducted to promote menstrual health management and normalize discussions around menstruation, contributing to a broader understanding and acceptance of menstrual health issues.

Looking ahead, Period Talk Uganda remains committed to expanding its impact and reaching more underserved menstruators. With continued support from Seasons of Love, we aim to enhance our services and extend our reach, ensuring that more women and girls receive the support they need during their health journeys.
